Nestled in the thriving, urban, inner city of Nashville, you'll find the unexpected oasis that is Rolling Mill Hill right outside your door. Here, we're preserving the beauty of the land and creating a spectacular pocket park that tells its unique story – from the ancient geology of the Nashville Basin, through the creation of the site as a quarry and sawmill in the 1800s, then home for the Tennessee School for the Blind, and finally the site's burgeoning renaissance today.
The park's design focuses on the mill's historic smokestack, expanding out along strong geometric paths which guide visitors through the space, connecting Terra House with the surrounding neighborhood. To further enrich the experience, limestone medallions with key dates line the park's "history walk" to tell an even deeper story.
Add to this a cascading fountain wall, immaculate landscaping, sculptures and more – and you'll experience a unique sense of place that captures the imagination, inspires reverence for times long past, and lets you escape the worries of the world like nowhere else.
